Chat & Assistants
Grok
xAI's assistant, wired directly into the live X firehose.
Our ruling
Worth it only for live social context, which nothing else has. As a general assistant it is a tier behind.
Wrong forCareful long-form work.
- Best for
- Reading a live conversation as it happens
- Pricing
- Free tier · SuperGrok Lite from $10/mo
Verified facts
- Free tier
- Free access on X and grok.com; exact daily or message caps not published in any source checked
- Entry paid plan
- SuperGrok Lite, $10/month: higher usage limits than free. SuperGrok, $30/month or $300/year, sits above it and adds DeepSearch, Big Brain reasoning mode and a larger context window
- Bills in
- Consumer subscription tiers apply soft usage caps, not metered per-token; the separate developer API is metered per-token (e.g. grok-4.6: $2.00/1M input tokens, $0.50/1M cached, $6.00/1M output, rates double above 200k-token prompts)
Verified secondary · source: docs.x.ai
All three consumer subscription pages (x.ai/grok, grok.com/pricing, x.ai/api) returned HTTP 403 on direct fetch; only the API developer docs page loaded and verified. Corrected the tools.json pricing field, which read a stale 'from $30/mo': a cheaper SuperGrok Lite tier at $10/mo now exists below the $30/mo SuperGrok tier, per cross-corroborated secondary sources; exact free-tier caps remain unpublished in any source checked.
